More than just an electrified vehicle sub-brand, ”i” is BMW’s ”spearhead of innovation” for technological advancements. The latest fruits of that innovation spearheading can be found floating on the ocean in the form of the Nimbus 305 Drophead E-Power.

We’ve seen BMW i3 battery power used for four-wheel, two-wheel and home power applications, and now it makes a move off land. BMW i has teamed with German electric boat motor specialist Torqeedo in adapting the i3 battery to the Torqeedo Deep Blue line, Torqeedo’s most powerful electric boat powertrain, which comes in 40- and 80-hp varieties.

Torqeedo highlighted the new i3 battery system at the Boot Düsseldorf show, which wrapped up yesterday. It seems quite convinced that it’s the future of electric boat motoring, explaining that the new battery offers a 40 percent higher energy density for a lower watt-hour cost. Modern design and design with smart functionality.

New 405 Coupé is the largest model in the popular and award-winning Nimbus Coupe Series with “sidewalk”. The “sidewalk” deck layout maximizes space on the boat’s starboard side which makes it very easy to get on and off the boat and staying on deck while the space in the cockpit and cabin are extra generous.

The new Nimbus 405 Coupé is the largest boat model in Nimbus Coupe Series which also consists of 335 Coupé and the 365 Coupé. 405 Coupe is based on the same concept as the award-winning 365 Coupe, which was named European Powerboat of the Year 2012. The boat has many similarities with his younger sister, but also offers several new features. Among others, a D-pillar a new design with integrated ventilation, fully glazed aft door, electric height adjustable table on the aft deck, stowage hatches on transom, new design of grill to the engine room ventilation with active exhaust, a kitchenette with a new design ceramic gas hob and dark corian worktops and more.

Like the other models have, the 405 Coupe is a modern design with laminated windows & a large arched front window, opening flush mounted sliding door on the starboard side and a large retractable glass roof. The flush mounted side door provides maximum aisle width and a large doorway while the door is an integral part of the design. The side door also gives the opportunity to steer the boat or add standing room on the outside. The polyurethane bonded windows in the superstructure gives, besides a modern look, an unusually high stability and very quiet salon. The driving position has been further developed and the dashboard can be equipped with two 12 inch chart plotters side by side.

The boat offers a large aft deck which is on the same level as the swim platform and the salon. The saloon has large flat surfaces and is perceived as light, spacious and modern but cozy thanks to the combination of materials of pillows or cushions. The extensive woodwork in saloon and cockpit gives a great feeling of craftsmanship and quality. Inside, the boat offers lovely quality and feel in terms of space and materials.

Among other things, the seating fabric covered with light material that increases the feeling of space but also dampens sound. Three cabins, forward cabin with a separate entrance to the toilet and shower, and two side cabins with shared toilet.
